Regionalny Ośrodek Kultury w Bielsku-Białej działa już ponad 35 lat. Jest organizatorem i współorganizatorem m.in. Przeglądu Zespołów Kolędniczych i Obrzędowych Żywieckie Gody, Wojewódzkiego Przeglądu Dziecięcych Zespołów Folklorystycznych w Wiśle, Wojewódzkiego Przeglądu Wiejskich Zespołów Artystycznych w Brennej, Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Chórów Gaude Cantem oraz Tygodnia Kultury Beskidzkiej w Wiśle, Szczyrku, Żywcu, Makowie Podhalańskim i Oświęcimiu.

TKB to największa i jedna z najstarszych imprez folklorystycznych w Polsce. W jej ramach odbywają się m.in.: Festiwal Folkloru Górali Polskich i Międzynarodowe Spotkania Folklorystyczne. Uczestniczy w niej ok. 100 zespołów folklorystycznych, w tym ponad 20 zagranicznych oraz instrumentaliści i twórcy ludowi.

ROK zorganizował kilkadziesiąt konkursów plastycznych, fotograficznych oraz dotyczących sztuki ludowej (również o zasięgu międzynarodowym), organizuje także kiermasze oraz wystawy sztuki ludowej w kraju oraz poza granicami. W siedzibie Ośrodka mieści się od 1990 r. Galeria Sztuki, w której zorganizowano ponad 200 ekspozycji. Znajduje się tam również stała wystawa współczesnych polskich zabawek ludowych przygotowana w ramach działalności Beskidzkiego Centrum Zabawkarstwa Ludowego.

ROK jest organizatorem licznych warsztatów i szkoleń, w tym głównie z zakresu edukacji folklorystycznej. Od lat w ramach Beskidzkiej Szkoły Folkloru odbywają się zajęcia (malarstwo na szkle, plastyka obrzędowa̷0;), w których uczestniczą dzieci, młodzież i dorośli.

Równocześnie prowadzona jest szeroka działalność wydawnicza, czego efektem są liczne katalogi wystaw, foldery imprez, publikacje książkowe, a także periodyki, w tym kwartalnik „Relacje - Interpretacje” i rocznik „Kalendarz Kulturalny Województwa Śląskiego”.

ROK jest administratorem kilku stron www. Pod adresem www.silesiakultura.pl prowadzi portal poświęcony kulturze województwa śląskiego, zawierający aktualizowaną systematycznie bazę danych i na bieżąco redagowany serwis informacyjno-publicystyczny. Z kolei strona www.etnofoto.net jest kompendium wiedzy o kulturze tradycyjnej polsko-słowacko-czeskiego pogranicza.

ROK w Bielsku-Białej jest instytucją kultury samorządu województwa śląskiego. Z tego też głównie źródła jest finansowana jego działalność. Znaczącym uzupełnieniem są środki pozyskiwane corocznie w konkursach grantowych. Dzięki pieniądzom z Ministerstwa Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego, Międzynarodowego Funduszu Wyszehradzkiego oraz transgranicznych programów Unii Europejskiej zrealizowanych zostało wiele ważnych i wartościowych projektów.


The Regional Centre of Culture in Bielsko-Biala has been running for over 35 years .It is the main organizer and co-organizer of many reviews and festivals, among other Presentations of Carol and Ceremonial Ensembles 'Żywiec Festivities', Provincial Review of Children's Folklore in Wisła (the Vistula), the Regional Review of Rural Artistic Groups in Brenna, International Choir Competition ̵6;Gaude Cantem ' and The Beskids Highlanders' Culture Week in Wisła, Szczyrk, Żywiec, Maków Podhalański and Oświęcim. The Beskids Highlanders' Culture Week folklore festival is the largest and one of the oldest folk events in Poland. There are held two competitions in the framework, inter alia, Polish Highlanders' Folklore Festival and the International Folk Meetings. Over a hundred folk groups participate in it, including more than twenty foreign ensembles, instrumentalists and folk artists.

The RCC organized several art competitions of photography, folk art also on an international level and scope. There are also organized fairs and exhibitions of folk art. The Regional Centre of Culture organized a lot of competitions, art contests of photography, folk art (also on international level and scope). The Culture Centre also organizes fairs and exhibitions of folk art in the country and abroad. The seat has been located in the Culture Center's Art Gallery since 1990. It was organized in it more than 200 exhibitions. There is also a permanent exhibition of contemporary Polish folk toys, prepared as a part of The Beskidian Folk Toy Centre. The Regional Centre of Culture is the organizer of numerous workshops and training, including largely folklore education.

For years The Beskids' Folk School classes of manual training (painting on glass, ritual art) have taken place involving children, adolescents and adults.It is also conducted extensive publishing activity, which resulted in numerous exhibition catalogues, folders, events, publications of books and periodicals, including the quarterly 'Relationships - Interpretations' and yearbook named ̵6;Cultural Calendar of Silesian Province'. RCC is an administrator of website www. silesiakultura.pl leading portal on culture of Silesia, including regularly updated data base and keep the edited service information and current affairs. The second site is www.etnofoto.net , a compendium of knowledge about traditional culture of Polish, Czech and Slovak borderland.

The RCC in Bielsko-Biała is a cultural institution of local government of Upper Silesia. Therefore the source is largely funded its activities. A notable additions to the financial means are collected annually in grant competitions. It was realized many important and valuable project thanks to means coming from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the International Visegrad Fund and the European Union cross-border programmes.
